Our Practice

The practice is owned by one of our dentists – Mr. Rautenbach. We aim to provide a full range of quality dental care for the family from our Victorian semi-detached premises in Nailsea.  Our dental practice has established itself amongst the local community and now provides dental services to thousands of people every year.

We offer the very best dental healthcare, a range of preventative dentistry and hygienist services and use the latest dental technology such as digital x rays, and Cerec all ceramic restorations. We follow the latest recommendations with regards cross-infection control.

We also have a fantastic selection of oral hygiene products for sale at our practice, so make the most of your visit to us and stock up on the essentials to keep a healthy smile.

Meet Our Friendly, Professional Team

Dr Jacobus Rautenbach, Dentist & Practice Owner

Qualifications: B.Ch.D. Stellenbosch, South Africa 1983

CQC service provider: ID 1-350272761

Dr Rautenbach joined the practice in 1986. He is originally from South Africa and qualified at the university of Stellenbosch near Capetown. He lives in Nailsea with his wife and four children. His interests include all outdoor activities and camping. His patients call him Rauti! He does not work on a Tuesday afternoon. Dr Rautenbach can provide you with Cerec crowns and inlays.

Dr Ameed Husni, Dentist

Qualifications: BDS London 2013
GDC registration number: 244095

Dr Ameed Husni joined the practice in January 2020. Ameed received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Guy’s and St Thomas Hospital Kings College London in 2013 having already completed a degree in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Manchester in 2008. He has since gained valuable experience in General Practice and provides Implants and Invisalign clear aligners.

Dr Ester Lucas, Dentist

Qualifications: Lic Odont Madrid 2005

Ester is a qualified dentist from Spain who did her Erasmus in Sheffield back in 2005. She enjoys general dentistry and the variation and challenges it brings. She enjoys building relationships with her patients and enabling them to improve their overall dental health.Ester has two young girls who take up most of her spare time. When she is not exploring the outdoors with the girls or taking them on play dates, she loves nothing more than to cook and entertain friends.

Dr Margarita Lane, Dentist

Qualification BDS Sheffield 2003 GDC Registration number: 82385 Margarita joined the practice in August 2021, originally from Peru she studied Dentistry in Sheffield after having completed a Neuroscience degree in the USA. Following her qualification she did her year of training in Nottingham followed by 3 years of working in oral surgery at various hospitals, before coming back to general practice. She lives in Bristol with her family and pets and enjoys camping, SUPing and yoga. She enjoys family practice and providing preventative care.

Emma Cole-Davies, Hygienist

Qualifications: CEB Dip Dent Hygiene 2001
GDC registration number: 5878

Emma works here all day Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Emma enjoys spending time with her young family.

Hannah McKenzie, Hygienist

Qualifications: Dip Dent Hygiene Brist 2007

Having trained and worked as a dental nurse in Suffolk for 4 years, Hannah came to Bristol to study Dental Hygiene and qualified from Bristol Dental Hospital in 2007. Since her qualification, Hannah has worked in a variety of Dental Practices in and around Bristol. As a hygienist, Hannah gets the most satisfaction seeing the vast improvements in patients’ oral health when successfully treating periodontal disease with particular aim of helping nervous patients overcome their fear of treatment. Hannah manages her time between her hobbies such as upholstery & various other crafting, spending time with family & friends and working at Dental Care at Nailsea on Thursdays.

Helen Harrington, Hygienist

Qualifications: Dip Dent Hygiene

Helen has been working local to the area after graduating in July 2006 from Newcastle University School of Dental Hygiene. Whilst studying Helen was awarded the General Dental Councils Prize for Professionalism as well as an in-house merit from the Dean of the Dental school for her clinical work. Helen gets great rewards from working with her patients to improve their knowledge and understanding of periodontal disease. When not at work Helen enjoys spending quality time with her young family, looking after her horse and playing hockey for Nailsea ladies. You can book in to see Helen for an appointment with us on Thursday mornings.

Christina Richardson, Hygienist & Therapist

Christina graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2019 and has since moved to Bristol. She has gained 7 years experience working at a dental nurse prior to qualifying as dental therapist. Christina's favourite part of the job is interacting with patients and helping educate them about the importance of Oral Health. When she is not at work she can be found looking after her two Sphynx kittens at home. In her spare time she enjoys going to the cinema to see the latest horror films, and going out for a cocktail or two!

Wendy Bull, Practice Manager

Qualifications: Dip.PM
Wendy joined our practice in June 2014 after almost 20 years’ experience as a dental manager in the Bristol area. She also acts as a consultant to other practices and is delighted to have joined the team at Nailsea. As our complaints officer she will endeavour to address any problems that you may have.

Helen Clark, Assistant Manager and Nurse

Helen shares the role of Practice Manager with Wendy. Helen joined the practice in May 2000 and has a Dip.PM qualification.

Suzanne Jennings, Nurse

GDC registration number: 113109
Sue joined the Practice in 1986 and is one of the Practice First Aiders. Sue has a daughter and 2 cats! Her passion is football and is a lifelong Man-United fan but when the football isn’t on she loves spending time with her family and friends and enjoys going out for meals and to the cinema. Her favourite place to travel is Marbella and Dubai.

Verbena Felce, Nurse & Receptionist

GDC registration number: 12692
Verbena Felce qualified as a dental nurse in 1993. She joined the practice in April 2014 and is one of the practices nominated first aiders. When not at work she enjoys time with her husband, two daughters and pet dog. She loves getting away to the coasts of Cornwall and Devon as often as possible to walk and bodboard. She also enjoys silversmithing and jewellery making when she has time.

Liberty Winter, Dental Nurse

GDC registration number: 270433
Liberty qualified as a dental nurse in 2015 and joined our team in 2019. In addition to working with Mr Rautenbach, Liberty is responsible for ordering all the clinical material and stock in the practice. She cheers us all up! Liberty likes long walks in the countryside and meals out with her friends.

Naomi Hendy, Dental Nurse

Naomi joined our team at DentalCare Nailsea in August 2022. Naomi qualified as a Dental Nurse in 2011 and in 2017 she gained the Award in Dental Intravenaus Sedation Nursing at the Bristol Dental Hospital (BDH). Naomi is married and has a son and pet dog, in her spare time she enjoys running, socialising with friends and travelling the world.

Abi Davis, TRAINEE DENTAL NURSE

Please join us in welcoming Abi to the practice!Abi joined us in November as a Trainee Dental Nurse, having just finished her studies at Sixth form.Abi can be found mostly working alongside Rauti, Libs & Sue but will be supported by the whole team throughout her training.In her spare time Abi enjoys walking her black Labrador, Brody.

Sandra Burnell, Receptionist

Sandra joined the Practice in 2002 as part of the reception team. She trained as a Dental Nurse in the early 1970’s and worked in Clevedon for several years as a nurse. Her nursing experience helps when dealing with patient enquiries while on reception. In her spare time, she enjoys going for walks in the countryside, following the Formula 1 racing and spending time with her family especially her two granddaughters.

Karen Ford, Receptionist

Karen joined the reception team in 2015 and is a familiar face to our patients as she had been working at the local post office for over 20 years. Karen is an active member of St John Ambulance and will often be spotted helping at local events and football matches. When time allows, Karen enjoys nice long walks and trips to the theatre.

Carolyn Rann, Receptionist

Carolyn joined the team in 2004 as a receptionist and is responsible for the ordering of Oral Hygiene products that patients can purchase in the practice. In her spare time Carolyn enjoys various types of dancing, taking part in musicals and visits to the theatre. She has two young grandchildren who she helps to look after and loves spending time with them when not at work.
