Improve the appearance of discoloured or damaged teeth with beautifully realistic crowns. Crowns have long been a cornerstone of restorative dentistry, enabling a heavily filled or broken tooth to be restored to its original form. They also have an important role to play in cosmetic dentistry.
Sometimes known as ‘caps’, crowns fit over the remaining part of a prepared tooth. They may be provided when there is insufficient tooth substance to hold a filling and to help protect root-treated back teeth.
Crowns can also be used to transform the appearance of a badly stained tooth or one which contains discoloured fillings. The latest crowns are all-ceramic and so are extremely realistic in appearance.
Replace unsightly fillings with natural-coloured alternatives.
Fillings are used to rebuild tooth substance lost or damaged by decay. However, traditional metal fillings be unsightly. Some of us even feel self-conscious when smiling or laughing in case it reveals a row of amalgam-filled back teeth… a sad state of affairs indeed!
The good news is that fillings need no longer be noticeable. Whether you have old and stained fillings in your front teeth, or unsightly amalgam towards the back, we can fit natural coloured fillings or Inlays to match the shade of your teeth.
A lovely smile with sparkling teeth looks great and will give a child confidence. Fortunately, you can keep them in tip-top condition, so get your children into the good habits of eating healthily and brushing correctly and they will have healthy teeth for life. It’s never too early to start a good oral health routine, so caring for your child’s teeth is vital.
The tray-based whitening system is an amalgamation of treatment performed in the surgery and continued at home with very simple steps, over a period of up to 2 weeks.
It is a safe and simple treatment to give your teeth their mojo back, making them appear brighter and whiter. Bespoke and affordable, you don’t have to wait too long to see results. Improve your teeth and your confidence too.
Teeth whitening, veneers, crowns and tooth-coloured composite build-ups…these techniques are often non-invasive and may be simpler than you think but the effects are spectacular!
Modern dentistry offers you a much wider range of alternatives to help you achieve your perfect smile at an affordable cost, and often with little invasive treatment. Our highly experienced team know how to make the most of innovative yet proven techniques to bring you astonishing results.
If you are thinking of having dental treatment abroad it is a good idea to discuss it with your regular U.K dentist. There are unfortunately several cases where people had unneccessary work done or the work was of a poor standard. Some people have been left in pain with no easy access to aftercare from the dentist abroad. Dentistry is not a quick fix anyou can be left worse off than before.
The ultimate in restorative dentistry – a permanent solution for missing teeth. Few developments in restorative dentistry have made such a positive difference as dental implants. Backed by over thirty years of clinical studies, they are used to retain individual crowns, bridges and dentures providing restorations which are retain, aesthetically pleasing and do not involve drilling other teeth.
How dental implants work.
A dental implant is a substitute for a natural tooth root. Each implant is placed into a socket, carefully drilled at the precise location of the intended tooth. Often the implant can be placed at the same time as the tooth is removed.
Once the implant has been placed the bone grows into the microscopic roughness on the implant surface, a process known as osseointegration.
The implant is topped with an internal screw thread into which is screwed a component known as an abutment which will support the restoration.
Further information about dental implants can be obtained from the ADI website (see below). If you feel that you may benefit from this technique do contact us.
We use Straumann components, world-renowned systems backed by sound research data.

Natural-looking modern dentures to replace larger numbers of teeth.
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available – Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.
A denture can be made in either an acrylic or in metal frame. We would discuss with you which is the most appropriate option.
From oral hygiene and fresh breath maintenance to the prevention and early detection of such gum disease, tooth decay and other conditions, preventative dentistry is at the heart of all we do. Regular check-ups, and hygienist appointments to help prevent tooth decay and gum disease.
Prevention is always better than cure.
We are committed to increasing awareness of dental disease, its causes and how you can avoid it. Regular examinations are essential to pick up the first signs of decay and gum disease before they cause harm.
Restoring broken or missing teeth with crowns, bridges and dentures. We find restorative dentistry to be one of the most satisfying aspects of our work – there is nothing like seeing the smile of a patient who previously had badly damaged or missing teeth.
Replacing missing teeth is also an important aspect of restorative dentistry.
If you have gaps which you would like closed we will discuss the possible alternative options with you.
One more assurance: since cosmetic dentistry is one of our particular skills you can be sure that the restorative work we carry out for you will look absolutely right – when you leave the Practice your smile will have an attractive, natural appearance.
If there is any doubt with regards to treatment, we are able to get a second opinion from a colleague within the practice or we can refer you outside the practice to a specialist dentist.

The instant transformation option – simply fitted over the front of your tooth. Just like a false fingernail, a porcelain veneer fits over the front of a discoloured or broken tooth to completely transform its appearance. It’s hard to think of another technique which is so simple yet delivers such a dramatic effect!
Because veneers can be very thin, they are easily fixed in place with a strong bonding substance that acts like superglue. This means very little, if any, preparation of the tooth may be needed thereby reducing the likelihood of future problems.
Transform stained, discoloured or chipped teeth… even fill gaps!
We will help you choose a precise shade of porcelain to improve the appearance of a single discoloured or stained tooth or to lighten your front teeth. A highly skilled technician will then produce the veneer will be custom made for a perfect fit.
Veneers can also be used to close small gaps as an alternative to braces.

Invisalign is the clear way to straighten teeth without braces, using aligners. Aligners are removable and virtually invisible, which means you can straighten your teeth without anyone knowing; and you can still eat and drink what you want. Also, you can brush and floss normally to maintain healthy gums and teeth; there are no wires, metal or brackets to cause mouth abrasions.
Certain treatments can achieve a better outcome through being completed by a specialist dentist which we would discuss with you and refer if required.
Just a short note to thank both Mr Rautenbach and Helen for the work on my new front crown last week. It has exceeded my wildest dreams – so natural looking and best of all when I left you there was no discomfort at all. I hardly knew I had visited the surgery.

I am a very nervous patient but I feel at ease with my dentist. There is a choice of music whilst having the treatment done to help take my mind off of what is being done.
J C
Always welcoming, always professional, always a pleasure.
Mr T P
I have always found your services outstanding.

I would like to let you know how pleased I am with the treatment I have received from Mr Roberts and all the staff at your practice. I have had numerous problems over the last 6 months and Mr Roberts has been very patient and professional and the treatment I have received from him has been first class, and I can honestly say at no time have I had pain whilst he has been treating me. I would have no hesitation in recommending both him and the practice to others.

I am a reluctant and nervous patient but Steve Collard’s skill and personality makes “going to the dentist” no longer a problem.
